Samsung says that some US customer information was leaked in a breach in July.

Samsung Electronics Co. (005930.KS) had a security breach at the end of July that let some US customers’ personal information out, the company said on Friday.

Samsung said that customers’ social security numbers and credit card numbers were not at risk, but that their names, contact information, demographic information, dates of birth, and product registration information were.

It wasn’t clear right away how many customers had problems. When Reuters asked Samsung for a comment, Samsung did not answer right away.

“An unauthorised third party” got information from some of Samsung’s U.S. systems at the end of July 2022, the company said.
