Sania Mirza praises Mohammad Hafeez after the Lahore Qalandars’ PSL victory.

All-rounder Mohammad Hafeez was praised by Indian tennis star Sania Mirza on Monday after his team won their first Pakistan Super League (PSL) title in seven years.

On Sunday, Lahore Qalandars defeated Multan Sultans by 42 runs on Sunday, courtesy of some incredible pyrotechnics from the experienced all-rounder.

Not only did Hafeez perform well with the bat, but he also performed admirably with the ball.

After deciding to bat first, Lahore got off to the worst possible start, falling to 25-3 after 4.2 overs. Following that, Hafeez demonstrated his expertise and class as he prudently manoeuvred the ship toward Lahore. He had a critical 54-run connection with Kamran Ghulam to help guide the inning.

Hafeez adopted an aggressive stance as he pursued the opposition bowlers and was eventually dismissed for 69 runs by Dahani. He scored those runs with one six and nine fours off 46 balls.

When he was summoned to bowl, Hafeez dismissed Mohammad Rizwan for 14 runs. The all-rounder claimed two wickets in total.

When Sania Mirza tweeted about Hafeez the next day, she called him “wonderful.”

“The brilliant Hafeez bhai […] Mirza said, “Congratulations to you all… and congratulations, Mohammad Hafeez.”
