Bismah Maroof will captain Pakistan’s women’s squad in New Zealand at the ICC Women’s World Cup. She was named captain when the national women’s selection committee revealed the World Cup roster.
The competition is set to take place from March 4 to April 3.
Bismah will compete in her debut event since taking a hiatus from international cricket in December 2020.
The Asmavia Iqbal-led selection committee, which includes Saleem Jaffar and Taufeeq Umar, has called up leg-spinner Ghulam Fatima, who last played for Pakistan in 2018, and opener Nahida Khan, who last played for Pakistan in January, following impressive performances in practise matches during the recent Karachi camp.
Nida Dar, a seasoned all-rounder, has been selected as the World Cup vice-captain.
The travelling reserves are batter Iram Javed, all-rounder Tuba Hassan, and wicketkeeper Najiha Alvi.

On the occasion, Asmavia Iqbal, chair of the women’s national selection committee, remarked, “I want to congratulate every player who made it into the team for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.”
When putting together this roster, we considered the circumstances and obstacles our team would face in New Zealand, as well as the present form of the players and the team’s balance.
“While we have maintained the bulk of the players who have recently been on national service, we have summoned back Nahida Khan and Ghulam Fatima,” added the chair.

Bismah Maroof (captain), Nida Dar (vice-captain), Aiman Anwar, Aliya Riaz, Anam Amin, Diana Baig, Fatima Sana, Ghulam Fatima, Javeria Khan, Muneeba Ali, Nahida Khan, Nashra Sandhu, Omaima Sohail, Sidra Amin, and Sidra Nawaz comprise the squad.
Iram Javed, Najiha Alvi, and Tuba Hassan are travelling reserves.
