When the government raises fuel prices, the US dollar goes up.

KARACHI: The rupee has been going up against the US dollar on the interbank market for five days in a row. However, after the government raised fuel prices again on Friday, the rupee went down.

On Friday, the US dollar went up 36 paisa in interbank trading and is now being sold at Rs197.95.

At the same time, the benchmark KSE-100 index fell by over 709 points on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). It is now at 41,528 points.

After the price hike, a litre of petrol now costs Rs209.86, and a litre of diesel now costs Rs204.15.
