LAHORE: The Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) seventh season will get off tomorrow at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore with another round of action-packed entertainment (Thursday).
Following the conclusion of the first leg in Karachi, the Pakistan Super League will continue in Lahore, with the unbeaten Multan Sultans taking on Peshawar Zalmi.
After five matches, reigning champions the Multan Sultans lead the standings with ten points. They are followed by Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars (both with six points), Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi (both with four points), and Karachi Kings (all with four points) (zero point).
Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators have lost their first three matches. Due to a higher run rate, Zalmi is fourth in the points standings, followed by Gladiators.
The Karachi Kings are yet to experience success in the seventh season of the Pakistan Super League. The Kings, who have lost five consecutive games, are at the bottom of the standings.
It will now be fascinating to see how Lahore handles the added strain of hosting at the Gaddafi Stadium.
The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host a total of 19 matches, which the city’s residents are looking forward to. Children and adults alike look forward to seeing the HBL PSL’s entertaining contests.
Apart from the Gaddafi Stadium, the administration has finalised plans for matches at Nishtar Park. The police have made sure that the players’ hotel rooms and transportation routes to the stadium are safe.
Apart from security, all other match-related preparations have been finalised. The Gaddafi Stadium seems to be completely equipped for the matches, and a security strategy has been worked up as well. At the start of the game, the Pakistan Army and Rangers would take over Gaddafi Stadium.
Ramiz Raja, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is delighted to see the challenge each club poses to their opponents in the PSL and feels that the Lahore leg will be more intriguing.
Raja said that the games in Lahore will be “amazing,” and he asked the people of Lahore to come to the stadium in large groups.
He also appreciated the National Command and Operation Center’s (NCOC) decision to allow the crowd to fill to its maximum on February 16.
“PSL is a world-class event; if more fans attend, the festival will be enhanced,” he said.
Raja anticipated a large audience attending the PSL 7 matches at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
He also commended NCOC’s decision to allow youngsters under the age of 12 to attend the stadium. “Such activities are organised specifically for youngsters. “Children under the age of 12 will add to the glitz of the main event, ” he said.
Peshawar Zalmi, the PSL’s past winners, and their hard-hitting English batsman, Liam Livingstone, have arrived in Lahore for the rest of the current PSL 7.
Livingstone, who arrived in Lahore for the second phase of the big event, will join the team after a three-day break.
