Japan stocks ended the trading session higher on Friday, with the Nikkei 225 index rising by 0.66% at the close.

Japan stocks concluded Friday’s trading session on a positive note, driven by gains in the Shipbuilding, Automobiles & Parts, and Transport sectors.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 index climbed 0.66%, reaching a new five-year high.

Among the notable performers on the Nikkei 225 were Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911), which saw a 5.27% increase or 356.00 points, closing at 7,112.00. Canon Inc (TYO:7751) also experienced a rise of 4.93% or 178.00 points, ending the session at 3,788.00. Nikon Corp. (TYO:7731) recorded a gain of 4.48% or 78.50 points, reaching 1,829.00 during late trade.

On the other hand, Tokyu Corp. (TYO:9005) was among the session’s worst performers, witnessing a decline of 2.46% or 44.00 points, closing at 1,742.00. Isuzu Motors, Ltd. (TYO:7202) experienced a decrease of 2.40% or 43.50 points, ending at 1,765.50. JGC Corp. (TYO:1963) fell by 1.76% or 33.00 points, reaching 1,837.50.

The Tokyo Stock Exchange reported a higher number of rising stocks compared to declining ones, with 2,404 stocks rising, 1,217 declining, and 221 remaining unchanged.

Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911) achieved a 52-week high with a 5.27% increase or 356.00 to 7,112.00. Canon Inc (TYO:7751) reached a five-year high, rising by 4.93% or 178.00 to 3,788.00. Nikon Corp. (TYO:7731) also reached a three-year high, increasing by 4.48% or 78.50 to 1,829.00.

The Nikkei Volatility, measuring the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, rose by 2.71% to 21.99.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery declined by 0.04% or 0.03, closing at $70.59 a barrel. Brent oil for August delivery remained unchanged at $75.67 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose by 0.11% or 2.25, trading at $1,972.95 a troy ounce.

The USD/JPY pair showed an increase of 0.63% to 141.16, and the EUR/JPY pair rose by 0.58% to 154.46.

The US Dollar Index Futures experienced a 0.11% increase, reaching 101.83.
