Maulana Tahir Ashrafi, Special Representative to the Prime Minister on Religious Harmony, said that the world community and the Muslim Ummah should speak out against India’s persecution of minorities.
He expressed sadness at a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday about the ban on Muslim hijab in Karnataka and other parts of India, according to Radio Pakistan.
Protests in India have lately increased over a ban on Muslim headscarves in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. Some people are angry because they saw a Twitter video of a Muslim student being harassed and taunted by Hindu far-right people at a college in the state of Karnataka.
