Voting on a motion of no-confidence: The NA meeting has been put back until 12:30 p.m.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan –The National Assembly session has been adjourned till 12:30 pm in accordance with the Supreme Court’s judgement, since the schedule includes a vote on the critical no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The session was presided over by NA Speaker Asad Qaiser and started promptly at 10:30 a.m., in compliance with Supreme Court directions and with the reading of the Holy Quran. The national anthem and Fatiha were then played.

While the opposition has turned out in force, the Treasury benches are sparsely represented.

At the commencement of Shehbaz’s address, numerous PTI MNAs began interrupting him with sloganeering.

Shehbaz told the speaker to hold the meeting in accordance with the Supreme Court’s decision. He said that the opposition would remove the “chosen” prime minister today through a legitimate and constitutional process.

He also thanked the opposition leaders for their efforts to fight against the wrong decision, which led to benefits for the whole country.

The opposition leader urged the Speaker to follow the Supreme Court’s directions.

Shehbaz advised the speaker to set the past aside and to stand up for the rule of law and the Constitution. He told the speaker to do what he had to do and have his name “recorded in gold words” through history.

You must seize this opportunity with conviction, using both your heart and brain. Do not follow the appointed prime minister’s dictates. ” He pleaded with Qaiser, noting that the Supreme Court’s directions were unambiguous.

In response to Shehbaz’s sincere request, Qaiser informed him that he would handle the procedures in accordance with the law and the Constitution. However, the critical point is that there has been discussion of a multinational conspiracy. This should be considered as well, “he said.

This caused Shehbaz to inform the speaker that if he followed that path, he would be breaching the court’s directions. Additionally, he read the court’s directions for convening the hearing.

You are required by the court to take up just one agenda item. That is the order’s aim, and you may not stray from it, “he said, pleading with the speaker to immediately take a vote on the motion.

“The Supreme Court’s rulings will be carried out in their entirety,” Qaiser said, handing the floor over to Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

The foreign minister started by admitting the opposition’s right to bring a no-confidence vote against the prime minister, but asserting his commitment to defend it. “Our intention is to oppose it constitutionally, politically, and democratically,” he said.

On constitutional violations, he said that “it is up to us to keep the Constitution.”

In the National Assembly, a resolution of no-confidence has been filed against the Deputy Speaker.

The opposition has filed a vote of no confidence against National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri.

Murtaza Javed Abbasi, head of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) and a member of the opposition, filed the no-trust motion.

On April 3, NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri rejected a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Imran Khan, citing a violation of Article-5 of the constitution.

When the Supreme Court ruled on Thursday, it said that the national assembly had been improperly dissolved, and it ordered parliament to meet again so that a no-confidence vote could be held, which would almost certainly lead to the ouster of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

In the middle of the weekend, Khan asked for the assembly to be dissolved because the deputy speaker wouldn’t let a vote of no confidence be held against him. The Supreme Court said that the measure was not valid.

“All activities performed are null and void,” the court judgement said. “The national assembly is continuing to meet.”

It was greeted with joy in some parts of the city, with cars full of people who didn’t like the decision speeding through the streets and honking their horns.
