Pakistan’s Ambassador to Cambodia, Zaheerudin Babar Thaheem, stated on Friday that there were enormous opportunities for Pakistan to advance trade with Cambodia and that the business community should intensify efforts to take advantage of these opportunities, while the consulate would expand them in the event of such collaboration.
He stated that Cambodia purchased the majority of its goods from abroad to address its problems. Therefore, Pakistan could provide Cambodia with a variety of materials, apparel items, pharmaceuticals, and synthetics.
During his visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he presented his viewpoints to the business community while attending to their needs.
Zaheeruddin stated that the Cambodian confidential sector was quick to advance business links with Pakistan; therefore, ICCI should consider sending a representative to Cambodia to research all unexplored areas of shared involvement between the two countries.
He stated that Cambodia’s development sector was booming and that Pakistan’s commercial sector could ship development supplies to Cambodia.
He stated that the travel industry sector in Cambodia was also expanding rapidly, and that Middle Eastern tourists visited Cambodia frequently, creating a high demand for halal meat. Therefore, Pakistan should promote the halal meat trade with Cambodia.
He promised that government authorities would assist the business community in increasing trade and merchandise with Cambodia.
Muhammad Shakeel Munir, president of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), stated at the event that the partnership between foreign safe havens and the confidential zone was essential for the advancement of Pakistan’s goods.
He stated that the Cambodian market was untapped for Pakistan, so the consulate should collect information about the demand for Pakistani goods and provide it to the offices of trade so the business community may capitalise on these potential opportunities.
He stated that diverse Pakistani products, such as marble and rock, design goods, precision tools, and IT products, could find a sizable market in Cambodia.
He stated that the ICCI desired to send its exchange designations to a few countries and would consider forming a designation to explore economic opportunities for Pakistan in that sector.
Jamshaid Akhtar Sheik, Senior Vice President of the ICCI, and Muhammad Faheem Khan, Vice President of the ICCI, opined that by establishing a direct network between the confidential areas of the two nations, trade and economic ties between Pakistan and Cambodia may be enhanced.
They stated that consulates played a vital role in locating economic and enterprise opportunities for Pakistan in foreign countries, and they hoped that the Embassy of Pakistan would seek to play a similar role.
