According to the Chief Secretary of Punjab, Hamza filed a petition with the LHC opposing the IG’s transfer.

He is the opposition leader in the National Assembly, Hamza Shahbaz. He has filed a petition with the Lahore High Court (LHC) to stop them from moving the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Chief Secretary of Punjab (CS).

During his petition, Hamza Shahbaz says that Usman Buzdar’s resignation as Chief Minister of Punjab has been accepted and that officials can’t be moved around during an election.

The leader of the PML-N has asked the court to stop the province’s top officials from moving.

The administration had agreed a day earlier to remove the chief secretary and IGP.

It’s worth noting that the provincial legislature must pick a new speaker after Usman Buzdar’s resignation last month. Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi of the PML-Q and Hamza of the PML-N, who has the backing of the PTI’s dissident MPs — the Jahangir Khan Tarin and Aleem Khan groups — are set to compete for the position of the chief minister.
