Ameer Bhatti on whether someone can become CM without taking an oath.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) resumed hearings on Tuesday on the issue involving the Punjab Chief Minister (CM) elections.

According to information, Barrister Ali Zafar, the lawyer representing Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, has concluded his argument, stating that since we are following Assembly norms, the court should refrain from interfering.

Additionally, the barrister declared that while the Speaker of the House is present, the deputy speaker is unable to use his authority.

Barrister Ali Zafar further said that in a hotel, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) “elected” Hamza Shehbaz as CM.

This idea was disputed by Chief Justice Ameer Bhatti, who asked if the Speaker could still do his job if he ran for the office of the CM.

Additionally, the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court questioned whether someone could become Chief Minister without taking the oath.

At a previous hearing on the plea filed by PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz Sharif in the Lahore High Court, Chief Justice Ameer Bhatti called the Advocate General for Punjab immediately.

PML-N counsel Azam Nazir Tarar argued before the court that the province with the greatest population is without an administrative head.

It is worth noting here that PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz filed a constitutional petition at the LHC.

The petition pleaded with the court to examine the problem of Punjab’s Chief Minister (CM) elections, which have been vacant since April 1.

According to reports, the appeal also names the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, the Deputy Speaker, and others.

The petition in the LHC was filed following the Supreme Court’s rejection of the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly’s (NA) ruling rejecting a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan. National Assembly must meet again to vote on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s no-confidence motion. The Supreme Court has reinstated the National Assembly.

According to the Supreme Court’s verdict, “the prime minister lacked the authority to recommend to the president that the assembly be dissolved.” All previous rulings have been declared null and void. ” The ruling from the highest court said: “If the no-confidence resolution against the prime minister is successful, the parliament will designate a new prime minister.”
