Wizz Air Holdings PLC (LON:WIZZ) shares climbed on Tuesday after the low-cost carrier reported a significant increase in passenger numbers in December, according to Investing.com.
When compared to December 2021, the European airline’s passenger count increased by 58.4% to 4,180,310 passengers during the month. The load factor, which gauges how many seats are occupied by paying passengers, increased by 9.1 percentage points to 84.5%.
At a load ratio of 86.7% for the rolling 12-month period, passenger numbers increased by 110.2% to 45,661,915 passengers.
In December, Wizz Air announced additional expansion at bases throughout Europe and introduced new flights from Italy to Saudi Arabia. Starting this year, all of these extra aircraft will fly new routes with increased frequency.
