When Tetra Pak leaves Russia after 62 years, it will hurt the packaging industry.

The packaging company Tetra Pak, which is privately owned, said on Tuesday that it would stop doing business in Russia after 62 years there.

It said that the business would be run by local management under a new name as a separate organisation.

Moscow sent tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine on February 24 as part of what it calls a “special military operation.” This drew criticism and sanctions from all over the world, and many Western companies have either left Russia or said they plan to leave.

Tetra Pak put a stop to all new investments and projects in Russia in March. This was done to keep customers happy and make things easier for employees. With the new business, the company plans to keep doing this.

Tetra Pak said in a statement that the company had to leave Russia because of the effects of the restrictions on exports to that country, which had made the supply chain unsustainable.

After this change, the new business will be run on its own under a different name and have nothing to do with Tetra Pak.

Russia’s packaging industry is being hurt by the effects of the sanctions. Video taken by Reuters shows that juice cartons, which are usually printed in colour, are now mostly printed in white because of a lack of ink.

Tetra Pak said this was an example of how supply chains had been broken because they had also made juice cartons without their usual colours.

Last month, a journalist gave President Vladimir Putin a half-empty juice carton at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Putin said that Russia cared more about its sovereignty and independence than how its products were packaged.
