WhatsApp warns users to avoid its suspicious clones.

California: Meta’s subsidiary WhatsApp has issued a warning to users after some fake versions of the app came to light, advising users not to download fake versions of the app to avoid getting into trouble.

According to sources, WhatsApp’s cyber security team has come across such suspicious applications that provide services similar to WhatsApp. This software is available for download outside of Google Play. These applications include “Hey WhatsApp,” “Hey Mod,” and other clones.

These fake versions of the app are trying to mislead users by pretending to be the real WhatsApp application. That’s why Will Cathcart, head of WhatsApp, has warned users not to download these fake applications to their phones to avoid any security breach.

The CEO WhatsApp said in his tweet that WhatsApp’s cyber security team has found malware hidden in applications created by ‘HeyMods’.

Will Cathcart praised Google for taking steps to prevent the spread of malicious applications on Android devices.
