The Bangladesh-Ireland series deadline has been extended in order to complete the Bangladesh-Ireland series.

An international cricket body called the International Cricket Council (ICC) has given teams more time to finish the Bangladesh-Ireland series before the start of the World Cup Super League.

Bangladesh’s visit to Ireland in 2020 has been moved because of the World Super League’s new cut-off date.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has extended the World Cup Super League’s cut-off date from March 30 to April 1 to accommodate the Bangladesh-Ireland series. Bangladesh was originally slated to visit Ireland in 2020, but the trip was cancelled owing to COVID-19. A 45-day extension from the cut-off date, on the other hand, will ensure that the series is finished on time.

Ireland’s calendar for 2022 is jam-packed, and they had no openings for a home series against Bangladesh. Ireland will host a two-match Twenty20 International series against India in June, followed by a three-match ODI and T20I series against New Zealand in July. They will also face South Africa in a two-match T20I series in August, limiting the possibility of a home series against Bangladesh to May.

“Yes, the ICC Super League’s cut-off date has been extended. BCB and our Irish colleagues have asked for an extension to enable us to finish our Ireland visit by May, “Bangladesh Cricket Board chief executive Nizamuddin stated to Cricbuzz.

Because we’ve been playing matches consecutively, we didn’t have time to prepare for the Ireland series. Now that the trip has been extended, we may conclude it in May, “he said.

Bangladesh is currently atop the ICC World Super League standings.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh lead the ICC World Super League standings with 100 points, while England is in second place with a score of 95. Notably, Ireland is sixth in the rankings with 68 points after 18 games, while the Netherlands is last.

It should be remembered that the World Super League’s top eight clubs will qualify automatically for the 2023 World Cup. At present, things do not seem to be going well for large houses such as Pakistan, South Africa, and New Zealand, which are now outside the top eight races.
