Taskin and Shoriful of Bangladesh have been ruled out of the second South Africa Test.

DHAKA, Bangladesh- Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam, Bangladesh’s speed bowlers, have been ruled out of the second Test against South Africa in Gqeberha, selectors said on Sunday.

Taskin has a shoulder problem and will be given time to get better. Shoriful missed the first Test in Durban because of a left ankle ligament problem.

“During the second day of play in the first Test, Taskin complained of right shoulder soreness and trouble moving,” physiotherapist Bayjedul Islam said in a Bangladesh Cricket Board statement, adding that recovery would take around three weeks.

By the end of this month, Shoriful is supposed to be back in the gym again, Bayjedul said.

According to the BCB, both will depart South Africa for home on Tuesday.

The squad is already without all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who went home after the side’s 2-1 victory in the One-Day International series.

Bangladesh knocked South Africa out for 204 runs in the second innings of Sunday’s Test, setting a goal of 274 runs.

They have yet to defeat or tie with the Proteas in a Test match.
