Sources say the opposition will soon initiate a no-confidence vote against PM Imran Khan.
The opposition is set to submit a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Imran Khan within 24 hours.
Shahbaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, said that the opposition would start a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the next 24 hours.
The president of the PML-N party made the statement during the party’s parliamentary meeting. According to reports, the PML-N has decided not to keep the subject going any longer.
According to reports, the Opposition intends to submit the no-trust motion draught to the National Assembly Secretariat either today or tomorrow.
Meanwhile, sources stated that the three opposition leaders — PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, PML-Shahbaz, N’s and JUI-Maulana F’s Fazlur Rehman — would hold a news conference later today.
Aleem Khan, a former senior minister from Punjab, joined Jahangir Khan Tareen’s PTI faction a day earlier due to his doubts about the prime minister, but did not indicate who the party would support if a no-confidence resolution was launched.
‘There is no danger‘
Despite the Opposition’s insistence, Prime Minister Imran Khan “dared” the coalition of Opposition parties to submit a no-confidence resolution against his administration on Monday, declaring that there is “no danger to the democratic government.”
Prime Minister said in Islamabad that the opposition can go ahead with its plan to present a no-confidence resolution, but the PTI’s core committee is ready.
‘100% certain’ of success
Speaking to media during a meeting of opposition leaders at Zardari House a day earlier, Rana Sanaullah of the PML-N said that he was “100 percent” certain that the no-confidence resolution against the government would succeed.
“This curse will soon be lifted; the leaders will publish the conclusions reached today,” the former regional minister said.
