Sony’s push for PC gaming gets stronger with Inzone gear.
Tokyo (Reuters) – Sony (NYSE:SONY) Group Corp. announced on Wednesday that it is releasing a new line of headphones and monitors aimed at the growing PC videogame market. This is part of the Japanese company’s plan to grow beyond the gaming console market, which is where it is strongest.
Sony’s PlayStation 5 console has been delayed by problems in the supply chain. Last month, the company said it would start putting out more games for PC and mobile devices, as subscription services and technological advances make gaming more accessible to more people.
The Inzone line was made by a unit that isn’t part of Sony’s main gaming business. Its goal is to use Sony’s audio and display technology, which are seen as areas where the company still has an edge, even though it has become a huge entertainment company that makes movies, music, and games.
Its headphones have sounds that help players find enemies in-game. In the United States, a wired model costs $99.99 and a noise-cancelling, wireless model costs $299.99. Inzone monitors cost $529.99 for a 1080p version and $899.99 for a 4K version. They promise clear images and a fast refresh rate.
The design of the gear is similar to that of the PlayStation 5 line, and it can be used with the console.
