Sindh’s chief minister and governor ordered police to promptly apprehend the assassins of a television journalist.
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Governor Imran Ismail took note of the murder of television journalist Ather Mateen Ahmed in Karachi on Friday and urged police to apprehend the culprits immediately, Bol news reported.
Robbers shot and killed TV journalist Ather at Five Star Chowrangi in the North Nazimabad neighbourhood.
The chief minister expressed regret at the passing and expressed condolences to the journalism community. He commanded, “The killers should be quickly detained,” after requesting a report from the assistant inspector general of Karachi police.
Imran Ismail said the police should safeguard the safety of residents’ lives, property, and honour. He argued that the Sindh government should make genuine efforts to combat lawlessness.
According to police, the senior producer of Samaa TV was shot and killed after attempting to prevent the thieves by colliding with their motorbike with his automobile. The thieves collapsed to the ground as the automobile struck them. They rose to their feet and fired on the journalist, piercing his upper body. According to authorities, the suspects escaped immediately on a passing bike.
Police said that they were conducting an investigation into the event and were attempting to apprehend the culprits.
Maroof Usman, Senior Superintendent of Police Central, was located at the scene of the event. He said that the deceased had a YouTube channel called ‘Karachi Diaries,‘ where he often raised serious and critical issues about current events.
According to the SSP, the attackers were on a motorcycle and were travelling from KDA Chowrangi to Five Star Chowrangi.
According to police, the deceased corpse was sent to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical and legal examination. According to them, bullet shells were gathered for forensic purposes.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, the Interior Minister, denounced the event and conveyed his condolences. He has requested an investigative report from Sindh police’s chief secretary and inspector general.
