Over 1,000 Pakistanis have been evacuated from Ukraine, according to the ambassador.

Dr. Noel Khokhar, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Ukraine, said Wednesday that 1,227 Pakistanis have been safely evacuated from the war-torn nation.

The Pakistani envoy said in an audio message that 1,227 Pakistani people had been successfully evacuated from Ukraine, while another 21 remain in various border locations.

He said that around 50 nations are en route to Ternopil, a city in western Ukraine; he added that the trapped citizens will be evacuated upon arrival.

Pakistan’s ambassador in Ukraine said Sunday that the embassy was making efforts to evacuate Pakistanis as soon as possible.

He expressed optimism to Radio Pakistan that the evacuation procedure will be concluded within a few days.

The envoy said that the country’s curfew was generating problems and that numerous individuals had congregated in border regions.
