ARMY HOLDING WAR GAMES

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army on Saturday said that its soldiers are holding war games in the Thar desert.

The activities codenamed ‘Jidar-ul-Hadeed’ that started on Jan 28, the ISPR said, would close on Feb 28.

Troops doled out to Karachi Corps are partaking in the drills. The soldiers are “rehearsing strategic drills and methods” as a feature of the activities.

ISPR said the cautious moves were pointed toward approving the idea of protection in deserts.

“The activity is being directed in extraordinary desert conditions, 74km in front of Chhor, under ordinary tasks setting,” it added.

The military has a Desert Warfare School at Chhor, which is 165km from Hyderabad.

The school was set up in 1987 in acknowledgment of the significance of desert fighting preparing.
