Former Twitter CEO Speaks Out in Support of Elon Musk’s Takeover
Elon Musk has finalised a multibillion-dollar deal to acquire the microblogging platform Twitter, following weeks of back and forth. In a recent series of tweets, Twitter’s co-founder and former CEO endorsed the acquisition.
Dorsey began his tweet with Radiohead’s “Everything In Its Right Place,” followed by the phrase “I adore Twitter.” “Twitter is the closest thing to global consciousness that we have.”
He continued by elucidating the cryptic tweets, stating:
The idea and service is all that matters to me, and I will do whatever it takes to protect both. Twitter as a company has always been my sole issue and my biggest regret. It has been owned by Wall Street and the ad model. Taking it back from Wall Street is the correct first step.

To me, the concept and service are everything, and I will go to any length to protect them. My sole beef and greatest regret has always been with Twitter as a company. It has been a property of Wall Street and the advertising model. Reclaiming it from Wall Street is the appropriate first step.
“Twitter is the closest thing we have to a global consciousness,” Dorsey continued. However, Elon is the singular solution to the problem of [Twitter] being a company. “I have faith in his mission to spread consciousness.”
While the former CEO appears to endorse Musk’s takeover of the platform, he added, “In principle, I believe no one should own or run Twitter.” Additionally, the tweets note that Dorsey “selected” Parag Agrawal as his successor for a reason and explain why the acquisition benefits Twitter:
Elon’s goal of creating a platform that is “extremely trustworthy and inclusive” is the correct one. This is also the goal of @paraga, which is why I chose him. We appreciate both of you rescuing the company from an impossible situation. This is the correct path to take… I believe it wholeheartedly.
Dorsey continued.
