Trump suspends travel among US and Europe for 30 days

Taking strong action on Wednesday, President Donald Trump announced that he was cutting off a European trip to the US and would curb the economic costs of the global financial crisis and disrupt the daily lives of Americans. Trump announced that he was suspending all European travel -US for 30 days starting late Friday – midnight – during the nation’s rare Oval Office address. After days of playing down the threat, he blamed the European Union for not working fast enough to correct the document and claimed that American collections were “seeded” by European travelers.
“We made a life-saving move by taking action in China,” Trump said. “Now we must do the same thing with Europe.”
Trump said these restrictions would not apply to the United Kingdom, and there would be exemptions for “Americans who received proper testing.” He said the U.S. would look into the situation to see if the move could be reopened earlier.

Growing efforts to get the virus and financial outages intensified on a tumultuous day: Communities were canceled at public events across the country, universities moved to human council, and families suffered the effects of disruption in public schools. The number of confirmed cases of the virus has surpassed 1,000 in the U.S. and the World Health Organization has said the global epidemic is now pandemic.

In a week with mixed messages and false starts, as government officials warned in urgent words that an American outbreak would worsen, Washington suddenly seemed ready to do so.
