China urges fair treatment of all companies, including TikTok, by Australia

According to a statement from China’s commerce ministry on Friday, Australia’s ban on TikTok from all federal government-owned devices is “discriminatory.” China has claimed that the ban is not in the interest of Australian businesses and the public, and urged Canberra to treat all companies equally.

The statement further added that Australia has treated TikTok differently from other social media platforms by adopting discriminatory restrictive measures. These measures, according to China, do not promote the country’s national security.

China has also called on Australia to establish a favorable environment for bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
