Australian Stocks Finish Higher as S&P/ASX 200 Increases by 1.06%

Australia Stocks Close Higher; S&P/ASX 200 Up 1.06%

Australian stocks ended the trading session on Friday with gains, driven by the Energy, Gold, and Resources sectors.

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 index rose by 1.06%.

Among the top performers on the S&P/ASX 200 index were AGL Energy Ltd, which surged 9.73% to 10.60, Austal Ltd, which gained 9.17% to 2.50, and Appen Ltd, which increased by 8.81% to 2.84.

On the other hand, the worst performers of the session included Star Entertainment Group Ltd, which declined by 5.41% to 1.05, Adbri Ltd, which fell by 3.25% to 2.38, and Collins Foods Ltd, which was down 3.03% to 7.69.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange, with 787 stocks advancing, 538 declining, and 427 remaining unchanged.

AGL Energy Ltd reached a 52-week high during the session, while Star Entertainment Group Ltd hit an all-time low.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery rose by 0.21% to $1,974.85 per troy ounce. Crude oil for July delivery fell slightly by 0.08% to $70.56 per barrel, and the Brent oil contract for August declined by 0.04% to $75.64 per barrel.

The Australian dollar remained largely unchanged against the US dollar, while it rose against the Japanese yen. The US Dollar Index Futures increased by 0.11% to 101.83.
