Djokovic was scheduled to compete in the Australian Open after being spared from vaccine requirements, but his team failed to qualify for a visa.

Djokovic’s visa was cancelled following an eight-hour interrogation by airport officials. The Australian Open requires all athletes and staff to be vaccinated or get an exemption from an impartial panel.

Djokovic’s visa was cancelled after he failed to present appropriate documentation to fulfil the criteria for admission into Australia, according to an Australian Border Force statement.

No one, according to Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, is above the law. The law is the law, particularly when it comes to borders.

The verdict has been challenged by Novak Djokovic’s attorneys.
