A US judge throws out the charges against Huawei’s CFO.

Huawei has said that it is not guilty of the U.S. criminal charges against it.
NEW YORK- The U.S.A US judge dismissed the charges against Meng Wanzhou, the chief financial officer of Huawei Technologies Co [RIC:RIC: HWT.UL], on Friday. This was the official end of a criminal sanctions case that had strained relations between the US and China.
Meng’s father, Ren Zhengfei, started Huawei and is the company’s CEO. Last year, she made a deal with U.S. prosecutors that the case would be dropped four years after her arrest in December 2018.
Prosecutors said that Meng lied to HSBC Holdings Plc (HSBA.L) and other banks about Huawei’s relationship with a company that did business in Iran, which was bank fraud and other crimes.

They said that because of what Meng did, banks could be punished for processing transactions that broke U.S. sanctions.

In Brooklyn, U.S. District Judge Ann Donnelly threw out the charges against Meng with prejudice, which means they can’t be brought again.
