UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged Pakistan to respect democratic procedures and institutions.
In his remarks on the country’s political events, Farhan Aziz Haq, the UN Chief’s Deputy Spokesman, underlined the need to settle conflicts in accordance with Pakistan’s constitution.
Pakistan, on the other hand, has been told by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that it will still get help even if a new government is put in place.
The IMF said in a short statement that there was no provision for suspension under the IMF plan.
The Finance Ministry said in a tweet that “the Finance Division and the IMF continue to collaborate on data sharing and reform talks as part of the Extended Fund Facility.”
It refuted rumours about the MF programme being suspended.
According to the Finance Ministry, the IMF has also said that it is still committed to Pakistan’s macroeconomic stability.
On the other hand, Senator Faisal Javed Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has said that general elections would be conducted using electronic voting machines and that Pakistanis abroad will be allowed to vote through online voting.
In a statement, he said, “The PTI has begun its election campaign,” “A parliamentary board will be created shortly.”
He said that focus should be given to the party’s ideological and die-hard workers. He summoned the opponents to prepare as well.
