Prices for aluminium and copper skyrocket as a result of the Ukraine news.
Aluminum and copper prices have reached all-time highs as a result of the Ukraine crisis.
London, England (AFP) – Aluminum and copper prices soared to all-time highs Monday, fueled by supply concerns about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Aluminum hit $4,026.50 per tonne for the first time, marking the first time the lightweight metal exceeded $4,000 per tonne. Copper’s new all-time high was $10,845 per tonne.
Commodities have risen in value since Russia attacked its neighbor. Gold surged back above $2,000 an ounce on Monday because it is seen as a safe-haven investment.
Additionally, nickel prices increased by more than 25% on Monday, while oil prices climbed close to $140 per barrel, the highest level in almost 14 years.
