2021 internet spectrum auction does not produce the desired results
Islamabad: 2021 has become a good year for the telecommunications sector as the most important event this year is a spectrum auction that is expected to increase the speed and quality of the internet.
Unfortunately, the spectrum auction does not serve the purpose of increasing cellular internet also does not provide revenue expected for the government. The reason is the partial sales spectrum of overall, which produces the government 27 279 million instead of 30 830 million.
The best is the release of this spectrum as soon as possible before technology such as Starlink satellite makes a useful spectrum. Consultation with a free spectrum of licenses and regulatory frameworks for the Internet of Things (IOT) completed in August 2021, but not applied.
Globally, the iot telecom sector developed rapidly. It has played an important role in developing many sectors including agriculture, livestock, forestry, water conservation and storage, supply chains, traffic and utility management.
Because non-issuance of license-free spectrum for IoT, many sectors lose the necessary development. In addition, the reformed cellular license framework, frequency sharing, trade framework, etc. It couldn’t come true in 2021.
Pakistani telecommunications companies are expected to spend 3.5 billion in their network for the next five years. With the support of the World Bank, the Ministry of Information Technology works hard to develop Firg’s strategy.
