Uzbek President will meet with his Pakistani counterpart.
ISLAMABAD: Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Pakistan on Thursday for a two-day state visit during which he would meet with Pakistani authorities and discuss bilateral relations as well as connectivity projects.
PM Imran Khan greeted the Uzbek president as he stepped out of his VIP plane at the Nur Khan Air Base.
The Uzbek president is visiting Pakistan from March 3–4 at the request of Pakistan’s premier. He is accompanied by a high-level team that includes cabinet officials and businesses.
Uzbek President Islam Karimov is in Afghanistan for the first time since taking office in 2016. The prime minister and the federal minister, Senator Shibli Faraz, sent him a warm welcome.
Two children dressed in traditional clothes gave the visitor a bouquet while cannons sounded in the background to show that the guest had arrived.
People in uniform saluted the visiting dignitary as the national flags of Pakistan and Uzbekistan were lined up around the perimeter of the airbase and along the path of his motorcade.
In this meeting, the two countries will look at all aspects of their relationship, including politics, economics, and connectivity. They will also look at education, culture, security, and defence cooperation.
