The Rashan Riayat programme has 19 million applicants: Dr. Sania Nishtar

ISLAMABAD: The government’s Ehsaas Rashan Riayat initiative has drawn 19 million candidates.

This was said by Dr Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, while chairing a meeting of the Ehsaas Rashan Riayat Steering Committee on Friday in Islamabad.

According to her, the Ehsaas National Socio-economic Registry is being utilised to target recipient households under the Ehasaas Rashan Riayat initiative.

According to information presented during the conference, the Rashan programme is available to families earning less than Rs 50,000 per month.

In order to help as many families as possible, the committee adopted the cabinet-approved criteria for including government employees earning less than Rs 31,500 per month in the programme.

On January 8, the special assistant to the prime minister for poverty reduction and social protection stated that the Ehsaas Rashan Karyana Store initiative will benefit more than 20 million families.

Inaugurating the first Ehsaas Rashan Karyana Store on Multan’s ancient Shujaabad Road, she stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan is putting a special emphasis on poverty reduction.

Dr. Sania Nishtar stated that several measures were being taken for this aim, and that 16 programmes were being operated under the Ehsaas programme to assist needy individuals.
