Twitter answers Musk’s letter and says it did not break the terms of the deal.
Twitter Inc. (NYSE:TWTR) said on Monday that paying a whistleblower didn’t break any of the terms of Elon Musk’s $44 billion deal to buy the company. Musk had said that the move was another reason to back out of the deal.

In a letter to Twitter sent on Friday, Musk’s lawyers said that Twitter broke the merger agreement by not asking Musk’s permission before paying $7.75 million to whistleblower Peter Zatko and his lawyers. The merger agreement limited when Twitter could make payments like this.
