“BNB Greenfield”: Binance Chain Unveils New Decentralized Storage Project

In a recent exclusive YouTube interview with Coin Edition, Zoe Wei, Head of Developer Relations and Marketing of BNB Chain, discussed her latest initiative, BNB Greenfield, which focuses on decentralized storage and the Zero2Hero hackathon.

Wei explained that BNB Greenfield is a decentralized storage infrastructure within the broader BNB chain ecosystem that allows users and DApps to trade, store, and exchange data with full ownership, ultimately forming a new data economy. What sets BNB Greenfield apart from other decentralized storage systems, according to Wei, is its data access, programmability, full ownership, and speed. She also noted that BNB Greenfield is partnering with various decentralized networks such as AWS and Google, which can remain as an individual’s primary storage provider, while BNB Greenfield acts as a secondary provider.

To facilitate large-scale adoption, Wei said that BNB Greenfield aims to provide a user-friendly infrastructure to develop apps that offer a user experience similar to Web2. When asked about the challenges in the current decentralized storage network landscape, she stated that BNB Greenfield can minimize the time taken to compile encrypted data from different providers and offer ownership to data that can then be commercialized.

Wei also discussed industries that could benefit from this technology, such as personal cloud storage, web hosting, and content creators. Additionally, she announced that their Zero2Hero Hackathon, a “technology bootcamp” aimed at individuals interested in joining Web3 but lacking technical skills, had launched on April 17 and would last until May 14. The bootcamp offers over 20 workshops across seven tracks, and participants can find project partners from across the world to bring their ideas to life.

According to Wei, the winners of the hackathon’s “incubation round” will receive incentives from both web2 and web3 partners, including AWS, Google Cloud, Tencent, Channelling, Acceler, UniSwap, Pancake, and more.
