TikTok introduces the new SoundOn function for monetizing music:
TikTok has launched a new tool called SoundOn, which enables musicians to directly sell their own songs on the site.
sound is a one-stop shop for music promotion and distribution.
It will allow musicians to upload their music directly to websites and will pay creators royalties.
Currently, artists are entitled to 100% of all royalties accrued within the first year. After that, it will decrease to 90%, and all artists will be reimbursed “depending on the frequency with which your music is featured in TikTok videos,” as well as the amount paid for per listen.
Additionally, artists will be able to view all of their contributed music via their personal profiles, which will be open to all site visitors.
Ole Obermann, TikTok’s worldwide head of music, published a statement announcing the announcement, which says, “New artists and music makers are a lively community on TikTok, and SoundOn is meant to help them as they embark on their careers.”
“We’re excited about how this will help us find and promote new artists, as well as how SoundOn will help the global music business become more diverse and grow.”
