three-team women’s CPL will coexist with the men’s version.In 2022

The debut season of the Women’s CPL, which will include three teams, will run concurrently with the men’s competition this year. Both the CPL and WCPL are projected to occur within the CPL timeframe, which spans from August 30 to September 30. Three teams will compete in the women’s tournament: the Barbados Royals, the Guyana Amazon Warriors, and Trinbago Knight Riders.

The CPL has been limited to one host nation for the previous two seasons owing to the COVID-19 epidemic, with Trinidad & Tobago hosting the 2020 edition and St. Kitts & Nevis hosting the 2021 edition. According to a CPL media release, the CPL 2022 league stage would take place in three Caribbean nations, with the fourth hosting the final stages.

The format of the WCPL and the places in which it will be held are not yet known.

In the lead-up to the 2019 CPL final, CWI played two exhibition T10 games with the best women cricketers from the West Indies.A CWI statement at the time expressed optimism that this tournament would pave the way “for the future sustainability of a women’s league.” Since then, the WCPL marks a tremendous advancement.

“Increasing opportunities for West Indian women and girls to participate in cricket is a strategic priority for CWI, and we are delighted to partner with the CPL to advance the expansion plans that we first announced in 2019 prior to the arrival of the COVID pandemic,” Cricket West Indies president Ricky Skerritt said. All of the CPL women’s games will be very competitive, and we are sure that our fans in the area and around the world will enjoy them very much.

The WCPL is the newest Twenty20 competition to include a women’s division. Unlike Australia’s Women’s Big Bash League, England’s Women’s Hundred (which succeeded the Women’s Super League), and New Zealand’s Women’s Super Smash, it does not have the same number of teams as its men’s equivalent.

First, there was a one-off exhibition match; the second and third editions were tournaments with three teams playing each other once and the top two teams meeting again in a final. The top two teams then played again. The competition will resume in 2022 after a pause in 2021 because of the COVID-19 epidemic.

However, the Women’s T20 Challenge has yet to develop into a full-fledged women’s IPL, despite BCCI president Sourav Ganguly’s suggestion that the debut edition may take place in 2023.

Last November, PCB chairman Ramiz Raja hinted at the possibility of a women’s PSL, albeit no date has been set for the competition.
