Due to the global outbreak of the Corona virus, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has postponed the Indoor Hockey World Cup in Belgium scheduled for February this year.
The tournament has been cancelled owing to the worldwide pandemic in Belgium, according to the International Hockey Federation (IHF), whereas the Women’s World Cup, which had been postponed until December last year, will now begin on April 2.
The Indoor Hockey World Cup was set to take place in early 2021, but it had already been postponed for a year owing to the worldwide pandemic, and it has now been cancelled.
Given the current condition of health and the risk of an epidemic of Omekron in particular, the Belgian Hockey Federation stated it was doubtful that 24 teams from across the world would be able to qualify for the event by the end of January. Since then, holding this event has been tough.
On the other hand, the European Cup, which will be contested in Almeira from February 11 to 13, will go ahead as planned, with Lauren’s Women’s and Amsterdam’s Men’s teams representing the Netherlands.
