Washington says that PM Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is now the prime minister of Pakistan. The United States has congratulated him and said it looks forward to working with Pakistan’s new government.
Blinken, the secretary of state, said that we value our relationship with Pakistan, which has been an important partner on a wide range of issues for nearly 75 years.
The U.S. wants a strong, prosperous, and democratic Pakistan because it’s in both our best interests to have one of those things happen.
