The Rana Shamim affidavit suggests that the PML-N fabricated a play to sway the court: Fawad

Fawad Chaudhry said on Saturday that the Sharif family had not denied the disclosure in the former Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) chief justice Rana Shamim’s case that the affidavit was prepared on the instructions of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif’s office.

The indictment and affidavit of Shamim

Yesterday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) accused Shamim in a contempt of court case.

In a leaked statement dated November 10, 2021, Shamim alleged in a “leaked” statement that during his visit to G-B, former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar called an IHC judge and instructed him to guarantee that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz were not given bail before the general elections in 2018.

As Nawaz and Maryam’s case was still being considered in the high court, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah took notice of the report and launched contempt proceedings.

Then, before the new year, an English daily reported that Shamim had signed the affidavit in former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s office in London.

According to the storey, according to information obtained by the English daily, Charles Guthrie, a UK solicitor, acknowledged that Judge Guy was at Marble Arch.

Stanhope Place, Marble Arch, was identified in Companies House records as one of the offices of Flagship Developments Limited, of which Hasan Nawaz Sharif is a director, and it has served as a primary meeting site for PML-N leadership in London with Nawaz.
