The NSC statement omitted the term ‘conspiracy’: DG ISPR
ISP Director-General Babar Iftikhar said Thursday that the term “conspiracy” was not used in a statement released last month after a meeting of the National Security Committee. This is not the first time he has said this.
He was responding to a journalist’s query after his news conference. There had been a question about Imran Khan’s claim that there was a plan to overthrow him, and the journalist wanted to know if the army’s leadership agreed with him.
“As far as the military reaction to the NSC meeting is concerned, that posture was explicitly articulated during the meeting, and then a statement was made… that clearly states what was agreed upon during the meeting.
As I previously said, the terms used are clearly visible in front of you. The language used is plain. Is the term “conspiracy” used in it? I believe not. “
At the discretion of the administration, the minutes of the NSC meeting may be released at the discretion of Gen. Iftikhar.
The head of the ISPR also said that the previous Prime Minister had asked the army leader for help with the political problem.
“Regrettably, our political leadership was unwilling to engage in dialogue. As a result, the army commander and DG ISI visited the PMO and discussed three alternatives “Among them, he recalled, was that the no-confidence motion should be conducted in its current form. a vote of no confidence could be overturned and the assembly could be disbanded, or the prime minister could resign or the vote of no confidence could be overturned.
“No alternative was presented by the establishment,” Gen. Iftikhar said.
He is briefing the media on the recent formation commanders’ meeting held at General Headquarters. He is also discussing the recent misinformation effort against the military’s smearing campaign.
The ISPR DG debunked social media allegations regarding the establishment meeting opposition groups. “This is not true,” he stated.
“These are the things I’ve heard… Investigative journalism has advanced significantly. Bring the proof forward if you have it. There were no such interactions, there was no agreement… For the love of God, there is nothing comparable to this, “he said.
According to Gen Iftikhar, there were also murmurs concerning the army chief’s prolongation. “Allow me to put this matter to rest. COAS is not seeking, nor will he accept, an extension. He will retire on November 22.
He said, “This is character assassination on the basis of circumstantial evidence.”
Gen. Iftikhar proceeded by stating that the term “neutral” does not adequately represent the army’s position. He made this statement in response to a query. “[The term] apolitical is preferable. No political affiliation or influence should exist within our constitutional and legal framework. “
He said that there have always been calls for the army to stay out of politics. “Today, it is taking shape.”
