ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen has said that the government will maintain current fuel and power tariffs despite global price increases.
In an interview with a private news programme, he said that the goal of lowering fuel and power rates was to provide assistance to the public.
The Finance Minister said that the administration made every effort to assist the people to the fullest extent possible and that an announcement would be made shortly to enhance the pay of government employees.
People in low-income Pakistan started getting interest-free loans from Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday. The Kamyab Pakistan Program was set up by Khan.
During the next two years, the Kamyab Pakistan Program—a component of the prime minister’s strategy for poverty reduction – would issue loans of Rs 407 billion to youth, women, farmers, and for the building of low-income housing.
A subsidy of Rs 56 billion would be given by the government for this project over the given time.
The Kamyab Pakistan Program’s primary purpose is to alleviate poverty and stimulate economic prosperity.
Government officials say that the Kamyab Pakistan Program is meant to help the 4.5 million poor families who are registered with the Ehsaas National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER).
Shaukat Tarin, the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, greeted the important private sector participants and praised their expertise in their fields while chairing a meeting of the Kamyab Pakistan Program’s Steering Committee and Advisory Board through a video link.
He expressed gratitude for their helpful input/suggestions for the programme and emphasised the importance of ensuring the program’s success via a collaborative and unified approach.
The Kamyab Pakistan Program is a flagship initiative that will extend microloans to entrepreneurs, small business owners, and farmers, allowing them to access microcredit at a 0% markup without requiring collateral, he said, adding that the programme will help underprivileged families break the cycle of poverty.
