The four-nation Super Series is expected to generate $650 million in revenue, according to PCB.
LAHORE: ESPNcricinfo estimates that the four-nation Super Series comprising Pakistan, India, Australia, and England, as proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), would earn $650 million in revenue.
ICC Board meeting in Dubai on April 10 will be the place to make the suggestion official. PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja and CEO Faisal Hasnain will be there.
The PCB’s chairman is paying close attention to the series.
The PCB has suggested that the series be played every year between September and October at the same place. This is a good time because it is the start of the season in Australia, Pakistan, and India, and the end of the English season.
The ICC will look into series-related issues, the article said. The tournament’s hosting rights will be decided by the rotation principle, and the ICC will look into them.
The tournament’s proceeds will be split between the four teams and the ICC members. While the income distribution is unknown, it is believed that a significant amount will go to non-participating full members and associate members, ESPNcricinfo said.
This is a strategic paper that the ICC and its members have been asked to look into an untapped event opportunity based on traditional cricket rivalries, turn them into a cricket extravaganza, attract a new generation of cricketers, speed up cricket development, and make more money for the members.
The PCB asserts that this is an effort to add another brief event to the calendar.
According to the PCB official: “This tournament will also add another country against nation match to a cricket schedule increasingly affected by the proliferation of multiple T20 leagues worldwide. As a result, bilateral T20Is have lost their significance. The four-nation Super Series may be able to fill the void.“
