The Foreign Office says Pakistan would continue to provide all possible assistance to Kashmiris.
On Saturday, Kashmir Solidarity Day is commemorated to reaffirm Pakistan’s pledge to stand with Kashmiris and continue to give all possible assistance to them till their right to self-determination is realised.
At his weekly press conference in Islamabad on Friday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar Ahmed said that Pakistan is gravely worried about the worsening human rights and security situation in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which is still under military and police blockade.
Extrajudicial executions of innocent Kashmiris, he claims, continue with impunity. Almost no day goes by without reports of a phoney confrontation or a so-called cordon-and-search operation by Indian occupying forces. At least 24 Kashmiris have been slain in this unrelenting reign of terror since January 1.
The international community must take action to put an end to the unrelenting tyranny and persecution of the beleaguered Kashmiris living under unlawful occupation.
According to the Spokesperson, Pakistan salutes the tenacity of the Kashmiri people in their noble and peaceful struggle for their legal right to self-determination, as guaranteed by relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
He stated that the world community must recognise Kashmiris’ misery and hold India accountable for rampant brutality and human rights violations in IIOJK.
He also encouraged the international community to do its part in resolving the Jammu and Kashmir conflict in line with relevant UN resolutions and the demands of the Kashmiri people.
