Governor of SBP Raza Baqir said that the agricultural sector in Pakistan did not get decent financial support.
During a press conference on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the agricultural credit advisory committee in Multan, Raza Baqir said that there was a terrible need for investment and financial support in the agricultural sector in Pakistan. Farmers do not get as many financial assistance as they should. The Finance Committee has been established in collaboration with the Government and SBP. This is the first meeting of the agricultural advisory committee which was also invited by the media.
The Governor of SBP said that they increased agricultural finance this year compared to previous years. The situation is better now where fewer loans are given by SBP and other banks.
Raza Baqir further said that 13 districts in South Punjab contributed 40% of the entire Punjab and South Punjab did not get the necessary parts in agri-cultural finance.
Can be remembered that the prime minister has inaugurated a successful farmer program in October where interest-free loans are given to farmers.
