COAS Gen. Bajwa calls the OIC meeting a “historic event.”

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Chief of Army Staff, described Tuesday’s Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) conference as a “historic development for bringing the international community together around a shared vision and strategy for resolving emerging challenges critical to peace and stability,” according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al-Saud is the foreign minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). COAS met with him, according to a short statement from the military.

In the meeting, the ISPR said that Afghanistan’s current situation and bilateral defense ties between Afghanistan and the two countries were discussed.

According to Gen. Bajwa, Pakistan appreciates its historical and fraternal ties with Saudi Arabia and recognizes its unique position within the Islamic world.

The dignitary also praised Pakistan’s involvement in Afghanistan, especially its efforts to control the country’s borders and its contribution to regional stability. He said he would help strengthen Pakistan’s diplomatic relations at all levels.

He also lauded Pakistan’s efforts to host the OIC’s 48th Foreign Ministers Council.
