Taco Bell wants you to get married in the Metaverse, and more!
Taco Bell and the Metaverse platform Decentraland have joined up to offer American couples the opportunity to be married in the Metaverse.

The company has invited engaged couples to enter a contest for the chance to win the brand’s first legally-recognized Metaverse wedding package, which includes a ceremony and celebration in the virtual world of Decentraland.
Taco Bell claims that the ceremony and reception will feature NFT invitations and custom-designed wedding clothing.
The couple will be able to invite virtual guests, who will be able to join in typical wedding day activities such as musical entertainment, dancing, and (virtual) food consumption.
Between August 25 and September 6, engaged couples can join the contest to win the brand’s first Metaverse wedding package.
According to a press release, Taco Bell will live broadcast the entire ceremony, and the couple will receive a marriage certificate keepsake. The union will be legal and officiated by a professional wedding officiant.
This is not the first time that Taco Bell has been in the virtual world; in 2017, the firm debuted its Las Vegas Cantina’s Wedding Package, its take on virtual Las Vegas nuptials.

Decentraland is a virtual social realm powered by the Ethereum blockchain that will be released in 2020.
Animoca Japan raises $45 million for Web3 business.
Animoca Brands Japan, the Japanese affiliate of video game and Web3 investing giant Animoca Brands, has raised $45 million for Web3 business expansion.
In a joint partnership, parent company Animoca Brands and MUFG Bank both contributed $22.5 million, raising the business’s pre-money worth, or value before public investments and external finance, to $500 million.
Animoca Brands Japan indicated that the cash will be used to “obtain licencing for prominent intellectual assets, improve internal capabilities, and promote Web3 adoption among different partners.”
The company’s overall objective is to raise the value and usability of its branded content while promoting the growth of the NFT ecosystem in Japan.

X2Y2 introduces opt-in royalty payments
The NFT marketplace X2Y2 stated on August 26 that it is launching a feature allowing buyers to specify the royalty charge when purchasing an NFT.
With the new upgrade, purchasers on the site will be able to determine how much royalties they wish to donate to an NFT project. Thus, some artists may not get royalties when their works are sold.
On Twitter, however, opinions are divided, with some suggesting that the move would help limit the number of fake NFT projects, while others assert that it will result in 0% royalties.
As a response to the criticism, the X2Y2 team tweeted on August 27: “While the discussion rages, please know that this is far from a final product, and revisions are already in the works.”
