Siemens has signed a contract with electric battery manufacturer ACC
ZURICH Siemens has signed a partnership agreement with Automotive Cells Company (ACC) to supply equipment and technologies for the development of new factories that produce batteries for electric automobiles The German engineering firm announced on Thursday.
Digital twin technology developed by Siemens can help speed the process of establishing the factories of ACC’s Billy-Berclau Douvrin, France, Kaiserslautern, Germany and, possibly Termoli, Italy, Siemens announced.
ACC, which is a joint venture between Stellantis, Mercedes Benz and TotalEnergies has a strategy that will cost more than 7 billion euro ($6.79 billion) to build three gigafactories that will have the capacity of 40 gigawatts (GWh) each in 2030. This will allow the increasing production of electric vehicles.
As part of the deal, Siemens will become ACC’s preferred supplier of automation, digitalization, and electrification technology.
The terms of the partnership that is included in the Siemens Xcelerator open platform for digital that was launched earlier in the year, are not yet made public.
The cloud-based platform includes hardware software, as well as digital offerings, forms a part of Siemens’ goal to expand the digital side of its business 10% annually over it’s 5.6 billion euro ($5.89 billion) that it generated in 2021.
Siemens will grant ACC an access point to their digital enterprise portfolio of software and hardware that ranges from production design to product design, from cycle management through energy management.
