Shoaib Akhtar advises Babar Azam to declare the first innings.
Pakistan against Australia: Babar Azam declares the first innings on the recommendation of Shoaib Akhtar.
RAWALPINDI: Following the wickets of Imam-ul-Haq and Azhar Ali on the second day of Pakistan’s Test match against Australia, legendary fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar suggested Babar Azam “declare and take a go at the Aussies in fading light.”
According to Akhtar, Pakistan’s “anticipated acceleration” has not occurred, which is why they “must have a go” at Australia’s “weary opening batters.”
Time to declare & have a crack at Aussies in fading light.
Expected acceleration not happening so must have a go at tired opening batsmen.— Shoaib Akhtar (@shoaib100mph) March 5, 2022
Babar declared Pakistan’s innings shortly after the tweet, with 476 runs on the board and four wickets down.
Azhar Ali and Imam-ul-Haq, two Pakistani batters, dominated their opponents with their batting.
Azhar scored 185 points, while Imam was ejected for 157.
