Shah Mehmood Qureshi casts doubt on ministry performance standards.

ISLAMABAD – In a report from a local media source on Friday, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi asked about the performance rating standards used by federal government departments.

A letter from the foreign minister to Shehzad Arbab, the special assistant to the prime minister, said he was very concerned about the Foreign Ministry getting the eleventh number.

He said that the foreign ministry met 22 of the 26 goals and 18 of the 24 goals in the first quarter. He said that the Foreign Ministry also had high-level operations during this time.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses concerns about the grading system.” It should be specified how ministries were graded. Additionally, the foreign minister said in the letter

He said that no issues had been raised concerning the ministry’s activities. There were no clear criteria for the 30% performance evaluation. On the other hand, Shah Mahmood Qureshi told opposition parties that if they were really interested in making South Punjab a province, they should accept the constitutional change that would make that happen.

In a statement, the foreign minister chastised Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for failing to react to his letter on the topic. He said that a United Nations Development Programme report also agreed with him. It was said that South Punjab was the most backward area in the country.

Qureshi said that he had re-sent his letters to Bilawal Bhutto and Shehbaz Sharif, along with UNDP figures. Also, he told the opposition to take the issue seriously and support the constitutional revision in light of the current situation, which he thought was very important.

Qureshi remarked, “They should not obstruct the establishment of the South Punjab province, even if Bilawal Bhutto and Shehbaz Sharif have political interests to consider.” The foreign minister said that if the South Punjab province was to be created, the constitution would have to be changed, not just the government.
