Saudi Arabia modifies its rules towards overseas Umrah pilgrims.

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah declared on Tuesday that all international Umrah pilgrims arriving in the Kingdom must provide a negative PCR test report taken within 48 hours of arrival, according to Radio Pakistan.

This regulation applies to everyone, regardless of immunisation status, according to a statement published in this respect.

The new regulation will go into force on Wednesday.

Pilgrims entering the Grand Mosque in Makkah and Madinah must show proof of vaccination via the Tawakkalna app.

Earlier, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah declared that international Umrah pilgrims can now extend their stay to 30 days from the previously authorised 10 days, according to the Saudi Gazette.

“Prior to the travel ban imposed in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic, international pilgrims were permitted to stay in Saudi Arabia for up to 30 days. When the interim prohibition on Umrah pilgrims was lifted and the service started on November 1, 2021, international pilgrims were permitted to stay in the country for a 10-day period “According to the report.

Furthermore, as long as international pilgrims are not from countries with travel bans and have been immunised with the appropriate vaccinations, they can now arrive in Makkah and conduct Umrah without the requirement for institutional quarantine.

Under the new provisions, all international pilgrims aged 18 and up will be granted permission to visit the country and conduct Umrah, according to the ministry’s requirements.

Domestic pilgrims aged 12 and up are permitted to do Umrah.
